2019 BMW 3 Series Spied Testing with Fancy New Lights

A prototype for the next-generation BMW 3 Series has been spotted wearing its production headlights.

The next-generation BMW 3 Series is expected to see quite a bit of change and the latest spy photos reveal the new headlights and tail lights the popular sedan will be using. Like the 5 and 7 Series models, the 3 Series will feature large headlights that give the impression of merging with the iconic kidney grilles up front. More importantly, however, the new 3 Series will ride on BMW’s CLAR platform, which currently underpins the 5 Series, 7 Series, new 6 Series Gran Turismo and the new X3. That means the sedan will weigh less than before, while riding on a slightly longer wheelbase.

Don’t expect very many changes to the model lineup, which means the 320i, 330i, and 340i will live on with similar engines. There’s a possibility the 340i will result in an M340i M Performance model, with a bit more power to compete with the Audi S4 and Mercedes-AMG C43. There will also be a 330e iPerformance plug-in hybrid variant, just like now.
