After showcasing the CX-30 at the Geneva Motorshow this year, Mazda has finally announced the pricing of its coupe-usage SUV for the North American market. The MSRP for the CX-30 starts from $21,900 and goes up to $29,600 for the Premium top trim. Prices exclude the $1045 destination fee. The CX-30 fills the gap between the CX-3 and CX-5 crossovers. It is about six inches shorter than the CX-5 and features a wheelbase that is two inches shorter and is also narrower by two inches.  Compared to its competitors like the Nissan Rogue Sport, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, and the Subaru Crosstrek, it is slightly longer than the Rogue but smaller than the other two. But in profile looks uncannily similar to the CX-5. You could even call it the coupe version of the CX.

The similarities are carried over to the engine bay as well. The CX-30 is powered by the same 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine that powers the CX-5. The outputs of 186 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque are also identical to its (slightly) larger sibling. It is a bit disappointing that Mazda did not consider powering the CX-30 with the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-X like the Euro-spec version. The Skyactiv-G does come with cylinder deactivation technology but it is only available with the top of the line Premium variant. The engine is mated to Mazda’s six-speed automatic transmission and is available with both front- and all-wheel drive. The CX-30 also comes with Mazda’s off-road traction assist system for its AWD trims.

The CX-30 is available with four core trims namely, CX-30, Select, Preferred and Premium. All trims are available with FWD and AWD options, and the price difference between the FWD and AWD options is $1,400. Mazda is also offering a lot of convenience and safety features as standard on the CX-30 starting with a 6-month/2GB trial of its in-car Wi-Fi hotspot along with a three year trial of the Mazda Connected Services. It also comes with an 8.8-inch infotainment screen with Bluetooth connectivity, rain-sensing wipers, push-button start and rearview camera as standard. The standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning with lane-keep assist and active braking.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are offered the Select variant onwards along with blindspot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, keyless entry, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The 12-speaker Bose audio is available on the Preferred and Premium variants only and so are heated front seats and eight-way adjustable driver’s seat with memory function. Finally, the Premium variant offers exclusive features like a heads-up-display, leather seats, power liftgate, moonroof, adaptive front headlamps, paddle shifter, and cylinder deactivation.
