2023 Lucid Air Sapphire First Look Review: Checkmate, Plaid

Climb inside, and the Lucid Air Sapphire’s interior makes a strong first impression with its Sapphire Mojave theme – the only interior theme available. It follows the normal Air’s minimalist, high-tech look, but the Sapphire receives a number of bespoke touches. The Lucid Air Sapphire’s seats are highly bolstered items in front, with 18-way power adjustment. Upholstery is a mix of black leather, black Alcantara, and Sapphire Blue contrast stitching. Not only do they hold you in place, but the seats come with heating, cooling, and massage too. The flat-bottomed steering wheel is Alcantara-clad as well. The beautiful 34-inch Glass Cockpit and Pilot Panel remain, but here they have performance-focused menus and sapphire blue graphics. One of the icons of the Lucid brand identity is the bear logo – the symbol of the state of California, Lucid’s home – and it appears in various spots throughout the carbon, such as on the seat headrests. As with the regular Air, a full house of features will include blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and over-the-air updates. The Lucid Air Sapphire’s cargo space and expansive second-row legroom have apparently not been impacted by the addition of a third electric motor since the EV was designed to accommodate another motor from the start. Hopefully, that means we can expect the same 16.1 cubic feet in the rear trunk. In the regular Air, the frunk measures up to 9.9 cubes at its largest, a class-leading figure.
