Since the dawn of horsepower, people have been taking the small engines out of small cars and putting in big ones to go faster and faster.

You would think that these fast cars would be worth a lot of money, but this is not always the case. The cars that left the factory with small engines are almost never preserved, so to find one in great condition is even rarer than finding a fast one.

This 1967 Firebird left the factory with the original overhead cam engine that still sits in the engine bay happily, and that itself brings along some interesting connotations. The Pontiac OHC straight six was a bit of an oddity, as they were very rare for the time, displacing 230 cubic inches and producing a healthy 165 horsepower. Having a straight six might not be as desirable as a big V8, but the engine layout completely changes the character of the car, and having a 6 would shift that character from muscle car to sports car. This Firebird is presented in excellent condition in a great color, with a cool blue interior.

Please don’t do a V8 swap in this one, folks. Seriously.
