Nissan Wants to Prove its New Leaf Doesn’t Have to be Boring

Nissan is heading to the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon with a wide collection of modified cars, showing off the potential of its lineup.

While the annual Tokyo Auto Salon is mainly known for radical creations by independent vehicle owners in Japan, automakers display at the show to present more reasonable ideas on how their vehicles could be tuned to stand out in a crowd. For the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon, Nissan is bringing at least 14 vehicles to the show, including a new Leaf Grand Touring Concept that features a two-tone black and silver exterior finish. Along with different wheels and an updated interior, the Leaf Grand Touring Concept possibly previews a future trim level or a special edition model from the automaker.

Two more Grand Touring Concepts will also be presented in Tokyo early next year, with the NV350 Caravan and X-Trail (Rogue in the U.S.) getting new goodies. The 370Z Heritage Edition also joins the lineup, along with a Note e-Power C-Gear.

Naturally NISMO will also have a presence, with the performance division showing off its version of the Serena van, Leaf, Note, GT-R, and X-Trail. Race fans will also get to see the Motul Autech GT-R Super GT500 race car on display. Speaking of Autech, the company focused on tuning Nissan cars will also have a trio of concepts, putting its twist on the Serena, Note, and X-Trail.
