Poll: Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 3 Series?

Which iconic German sports sedan would YOU rather own, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 3 Series?

Well, it’s high time to pick a favorite by participating in our poll. In case you’re still an undecided voter here are a few details about each of these cars.

Starting with the Benz, in C300 format (the entry-level offering) it’s powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four. This ‘banger is rated at 241 horses and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. Sending that twisting force to the rear wheels is a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Similarly, the BMW 3 Series’ base powerplant is a 2.0-liter turbo, though in 320i models it’s rated at a rather disappointing 180 ponies. Drivers that want a sportier experience would be wise to spring for the 330i, which features a more potent four-cylinder, one that delivers and advertised 248 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. Appealing to enthusiasts, the Munich-based company offers some driveline choice: You can get either an eight-speed automatic gearbox or a slick six-speed manual. Options are great!

When it comes to pricing, the C300 starts at right around $40,000, however, if the 3 Series is more your flavor you can get a 320i for roughly 34 grand, an exceedingly friendly price. For a bit more giddy-up, plan on spending in the neighborhood of $39,000 for a 330i.
