Top 5 Best Cars from the 2015 SEMA Show

Top 5 Best Cars from the 2015 SEMA Show

Picking a favorite car from the several hundred at SEMA is nearly impossible because there is something here for everyone.

From jacked-up brodozers, to low-riding cruisers and high-horsepower exotics, SEMA has all sorts of different awesome cars, but here are five of our personal favorites from this year’s show:

5. KUHL Racing Nissan GT-R

Top 5 Best Cars from the 2015 SEMA Show

This custom Nissan GT-R makes the Top 5 for its epic hand-engraved paint finish. And as if that stunning paint job wasn’t enough, the car also has an aggressive widebody kit, custom alloy wheels and a bunch of performance upgrades. The car was shipped over from Tokyo to be here at SEMA, and it was definitely one of the most attention-grabbing cars at the show.

4. Rusty Slammington

Top 5 Best Cars from the 2015 SEMA Show

One of the best cars from SEMA is actually one of the least SEMA-like cars here. SEMA is usually about shiny paint jobs and crazy modifications, but one of my favorite cars here is a rusty old rat rod-style BMW E28 that was destroyed in a fire and restored in all its rusty glory.

But don’t let its beat down appearance fool you. Known as Rusty Slammington, this Stance Works BMW is powered by a inline-six engine from an E34 M5 and has been tuned to almost 500 hp.

 3. Ludacris’ Acura Legend

Another strangely stock-looking car in the sea of super shiny lowriders and jacked-up pickup trucks, Ludacris’ 1993 Acura Legend is another one of my favorites from this year’s SEMA show. The Legend was destroyed in an accident and Acura helped Luda restore his favorite whip to be even better than the original, without losing its signature look. Ludacris had this car before he was famous, and even though he has private jets and a full rapper garage, the Legend is still one of his favorites.

 2. Ringbrothers Carbon Fiber Vintage Mustang

Top 5 Best Cars from the 2015 SEMA Show

This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback by Ringbrothers is made of all-carbon fiber and took the customization shop three years to complete. This vintage widebody pony car has a 427-cubic-inch LS7 with a massive Whipple supercharger stuffed under its hood and a staggering 959 horsepower and 858 ft-lb of torque.

Those numbers are enough for this Mustang to make our Top 5, but just look it it! This thing just looks so freaking good.

1. Mazda Spyder and Speedster

My personal favorites this year weren’t super brash or over-the-top like the other stuff we usually see at SEMA.

The Mazda MX-5 Spyder (below) and Speedster (above) concepts are just the most beautiful Miatas I’ve ever seen and not only are they amazing to look at, but they also promise to be even more fun to drive because they are lighter than the already super light stock MX-5. These two Miatas have a lot of old school retro details and really pay homage to the cars that inspired the Miata in the first place.
