The Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar could produce over 1,100 horsepower from its V12 hybrid powertrain, according to a new report.
The Valkyrie will arrive in 2019 with a 6.5-liter V12 engine developed by Cosworth. The engine will be mated to a hybrid system made by Rimac, the company responsible for the insane 1,088 horsepower Concept One supercar, which will reportedly result in a maximum output of 1,130 horsepower. A seven-speed transmission developed by Ricardo will channel power to the rear wheels.
The wild stats don’t stop there. It will apparently tip the scales at just 1,030 kilograms (2,270 lbs), which would give it more than 1 horsepower for every kilogram of weight. Its minimal weight is accentuated by its stripped out interior, which will be extremely compact and adorned with a removable race-inspired steering wheel and multiple digital displays. Furthermore, the car will have aerodynamic work developed using input from Red Bull Racing’s highly regarded Formula 1 technical director Adrian Newey, all but guaranteeing it will be in the top-tier of performance in regards to cornering speed.

Taking things even further will be the track-only version, which will apparently boast an even more extreme aerodynamics package with a large rear wing. Less is known about this model, but the automaker wants it to lap Britain’s Silverstone circuit as fast as a modern day LMP1 racecar.
It seems as though the production-spec Valkyrie could be set for a debut at next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, with Aston Martin hoping to drive the car on track during the first lap of the race. It’s a wild idea, but with stats like those, the Valkyrie wouldn’t be far out of place on France’s Circuit de la Sarthe.
