Attention World: the Corvette ZR1 is Back and it Has 750 HP

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 has made its official debut – marking the arrival of the fastest, most powerful production Chevrolet to date.

The ZR1 is powered by a new supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine dubbed LT5, which is good for 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque. Compared to the 650 hp LT4 engine in the Z06,  the LT5 has 52 percent larger supercharger, a more efficient intercooler system and a dual-injection system with both direct and port injection. Unlike the C6 ZR1, which could only be ordered with a 6-speed manual, this new model will be available with both a seven-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Chevy also says it will do 210 mph.

A more powerful supercharged Small Block is far from the only upgrade here. There’s two different aerodynamics kits on offer: a ‘Low Wing’ kit for a higher top speed, and a ‘High Wing’ kit with a large two-way adjustable rear wing. The High Wing kit is part of the ZTK Performance Package, which also adds a front splitter with carbon end caps, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and different tuning for the Magnetic Ride dampers and chassis. A new front fascia with larger air intakes helps feed the four additional radiators on board (making for a total of 13) and also includes a front “underwing” for even more downforce. Rounding out the changes is a special carbon fiber “halo” hood with a cutout for the LT5’s supercharger assembly.

Customers looking for an even more special take on the C7 can opt for the Sebring Orange Design Package. The package adds a Sebring Orange Tintcoat exterior color (of course) along with orange brake calipers, orange rocker and accent stripes, orange seat belts, orange interior stitching and bronze aluminum trim. Call us crazy, but we get the feeling it’s inspired by the color of the sun setting over Sebring International Raceway during the annual IMSA 12 Hours of Sebring.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 will go on sale next spring. Pricing has yet to be announced, but we’re expecting to hear more on that front shortly. Summer 2018 is already starting to look pretty good, isn’t it, Corvette fans?
