BMW X2 Resurfaces in Germany as it Prowls the Streets

The BMW X2 prototype is touring Europe with its stylish camouflage.

BMW first unveiled the X2 wearing urban camouflage earlier this year, trying to add some excitement to its prototype while it goes testing around Europe. The upcoming compact crossover will ride on a front-wheel-drive platform, which isn’t sitting well with some BMW enthusiasts. But it will offer all-wheel drive at the top of its range once it arrives sometime next year.

Compared to the BMW X1, the X2 will be more stylish, aiming for a coupe-like appearance. Those looking for more practicality and space should stick with the X1 however, as the X2 will sacrifice a bit of both in the sake of design.

Under the hood, the X2 will likely share its powertrain offerings with the X1, so expect to see smaller gasoline and diesel engines in the lineup.

The BMW X2 has been caught on camera numerous times by spy photographers, and a published patent design has given us a good idea of what to expect when the X2 debuts.
