Chevrolet Bolt Set to Spawn an All-Electric Crossover for Buick

GM previously confirmed the Chevrolet Bolt will be used as a platform for different vehicles, and it seems the first model it will spawn will be a Buick.

According to a recent report from , the first new electric vehicle based on the Bolt will be a crossover wearing the Buick nameplate.  cites its source as a “very trusted/known” individual who recently attended a focus group in California, where individuals were asked to rate the new all-electric Buick crossover. The source said the model looked “next generation Buick Encore-like” and features the same basic specs as the existing Bolt, including the 60-kWh battery. Its appearance, however, was considerably different, with some people in the focus group completely trashing the Bolt EV while loving the Buick.

If what was revealed in the focus group stays, the new crossover has similar overall dimensions as the Chevrolet Bolt, but will have three inches of more legroom in the rear. It will be a bit slower than the Bolt, while costing approximately $3,000 more. It’s targeting a more premium market, with dashboard stitching and a larger center touchscreen, a bit like the new Tesla Model 3.
