Chevrolet Camaro and Silverado are Heading to Australia

Holden Special Vehicles has announced that two of America’s most iconic nameplates are heading to Australia.

Come 2018, both the Chevrolet Camaro and Silverado will arrive in Holden showrooms following conversion to right-hand drive by the HSV team, in Melbourne.

“This marks a new era for HSV and Holden and I hope our customers are as excited as we are,” said Tim Jackson, HSV Managing Director. “HSV is moving beyond simply ‘hotting up’ existing models, and customers will see two product streams from HSV over the next few years.”

The Silverado will be first to arrive, with conversions of the 2500HD commencing in April before 3500HD production gets underway in June. The 2500 will be offered in WT, LTZ, Midnight Edition, and Custom Sport trims, while the 3500 will only be offered in LTZ guise. All trucks will come equipped with the tried and true combo of GM’s 6.6-liter Duramax V8 Diesel hooked to an Allison 1000 six-speed automatic.

Camaro’s will only be offered with the thundering 6.2-liter LT1 V8 in 2SS spec, however, customers will be offered the choice between a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment will be extensive, bringing performance suspension, Brembo brakes, power adjustable heated and ventilated leather seats, dual zone climate control, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system.

Cars will start going under the knife in July and it’s still unclear how much money HSV is going to want. Certainly, they’re going to cost more than the Mustang, which is built by Ford in both left and right-hand drive configurations.
