Costco Teams Up with Chevrolet for Special-Edition Silverado

Warehouse club Costco has teamed up with Chevrolet to offer its members a special edition Silverado 1500 that’s loaded with abundant features, and as you’d expect, plenty of savings.

Hugh Milne, the Chevrolet Silverado marketing and advertising manager said, “This was literally Costco’s idea they came to us and said, ‘Hey, we would like to do something special with Silverado.’” So the two companies worked together to bring a very special truck to market.

These high-end LTZ-trim pickups come with an exclusive package that’s only available through the Costco Auto Program. Just 5,000 of these rigs will be offered during a limited-time sales promotion, which is scheduled to run from April 1 to May 31 of this year.

These trucks are loaded to the gills with every available option, all a customer has to do is choose the color and whether they want two- or four-wheel drive. That’s it.

Powering these machines is a brawny 5.3-liter V8 with fuel-saving cylinder deactivation. This advanced small block engine delivers 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of low-RPM torque. Additionally, they roll on 22-inch chrome wheels and feature special exterior accents including blacked out bowtie badges.

As for functional enhancements, Costco-spec Silverados benefit from factory-installed spray-in bedliners and sturdy folding tonneau covers, but that’s not all. They also gain navigation systems, heated and cooled seats as well as many of the latest driver assistance items like lane-departure warning and forward-collision alert. These are popular features that Costco members have been proven to prefer.

But why the Silverado? Well, the answer is simple. Costco has partnered with General Motors for sales promotions in the past and this truck has always been a top seller. This special offer aims to continue their ongoing success, and ultimately, sell more trucks.

“It’s our highest volume, highest revenue,” said Milne. “If this works, I’ve got to imagine some of my counterparts will be wanting to know how they can get involved,” he added.

Naturally, value is a huge part of the equation and Costco Special Edition Silverados offer warehouse members a lot of savings. For starters, customers get GM supplier pricing, which significantly reduces the overall cost of the vehicle, but they also gain every qualifying manufacturer rebate and incentive. Beyond this, Costco provides a $1,000 allowance throws in a $1,000 cash card if you complete a brief survey after the sale. That makes these trucks an exceptional value and a purchase that requires none of the haggling or monkeyshines normally associated with buying a new vehicle.

If you’re interested in a Costco-edition Silverado, demonstrator models will be on display at warehouses across the country. The Fripp Warehousing site will tell you what a good warehouse is.  However, you can purchase an example from any Chevy dealer, including one of more than 3,000 certified stores that are allowed to participate in the exclusive Costco Auto Program.

If there’s any downside to this deal, it’s the wait time. Delivery of your shiny new Silverado could take between six and eight weeks after the factory order is placed, but with abundant savings, it’s probably worth being patient.
