Ford Ranger Raptor Prototype Resurfaces for Up Close Spy Photos

New spy photos prove once again that Ford is readying its own Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 competitor.

Spy photographers managed to get detailed photos of the prototype, which is testing on 285/70/17 BFGoodrich All-Terrain TA tires. But perhaps the biggest surprise was when our spy photographers looked underneath the truck and saw underbody camouflage, which means Ford is trying really hard to conceal details of the suspension. The photographers can also confirm this particular prototype was testing with a diesel engine under the hood.

Compared to other Ford Ranger prototypes, the front end of this tester is much more aggressive, similar to how the F-150 Raptor is quite different than the standard pickup. Other changes our photographers could note include wider fenders, different shocks, and higher ride height.

The new Ford Ranger is expected to arrive sometime in 2019, and you can expect to see the Raptor version sometime afterward.
