Ford's Best New Hot Hatch is Not Coming to the US

Ford has confirmed the Fiesta ST isn’t heading to North America.

Reports that the new Ford Fiesta wouldn’t be coming to North America first surfaced in late July, and now  has confirmation the Fiesta ST isn’t destined for North American shores either. At the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, Ford Performance of Europe director Leo Roeks confirmed the Fiesta ST just doesn’t make a lot of sense for the U.S. “It’s simply a matter of a lack of interest in the B-segment in America. It doesn’t make sense, nor is it possible financially speaking, to import a single trim level, and a niche one at that.”

Although it was expected, the news is a bit sad for those hoping more and more hot hatches would make their way to the U.S. Ford Fiesta sales have been declining in the U.S. since its peak of 71,073 units in 2013. Last year, the American automaker sold 48,807 units in the U.S. And while those figures might be impressive for some automakers, Ford sold 168,789 Focus vehicles last year.
