GM Recalls Older Pickup Trucks for Power Steering Issue

Approximately 800,000 units are affected by the recall.

The recall includes the 2014 model year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks, with about 690,000 units in the U.S., 80,000 units in Canada, and 25,000 units in other markets. The affected trucks could suffer a temporary loss of electric power steering, especially during low-speed turning maneuvers, according to documents published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

To address the issue, dealerships will reflash the software on the affected trucks. There are currently no details on whether GM is aware of any crashes or injuries related to the issue. The American automaker has not announced a start date for the recall.
