With its tidy looks and available adaptive dampers, there’s lots to like about the 2018 Honda Accord – but Honda fans might be upset to hear its arrival ushered in the death of the Accord Coupe.
With consumers flocking to crossovers and SUVs, midsize sedans and especially coupes are becoming much less popular. It was therefore unsurprising to hear that Honda will only introduce a four-door sedan body style for this new-generation Accord, but our lack of astoundment doesn’t soften the blow.
This information compounds with the equally as disappointing yet unsurprising news that the Accord V6 has also disappeared. In the six-cylinder’s place is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, which can be had with a 10-speed automatic or a six-speed manual.

While the Accord Coupe may have gone the way of the Dodo Bird, consumers may be able to take solace in the fact that Honda has essentially melded the two models into one. This new Accord rocks a fastback body style that appears decidedly more sporty than the outgoing Accord four-door, so while it’s no handsome coupe, it’s at least not entirely pedestrian.
Pour one out for the Accord Coupe, Honda fans.
