Infiniti has recalled both the Q50 and Q60 in the U.S. for an issue related to the fuel pump.
According to Infiniti, the wrong fuel pump control module software is being used in the affected vehicles, which may cause the engines to stall. The company’s engineers found when the amount of fuel is low in the main tank, the pressure regulator may not open and send fuel from the sub-tank to the main tank. As a result, the fuel level in the main tank could be too low for the fuel pump to send adequate fuel to the engine, causing it to stall while driving.

A total of 14,192 units are being recalled and some are still sitting on dealership lots, which means Infiniti has also issued a stop-sale order until those vehicles can be fixed. The affected vehicles are equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, so those with the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 or the hybrid powertrain need not worry.
To resolve the issue, Infiniti dealerships will reprogram the software for the fuel pump control module.
