Jaguar F-Pace Wins 2017 World Car of the Year

The Jaguar F-Pace has been named the 2017 World Car of the Year. 

Announced here at the 2017 New York Auto Show, the Jaguar beat out two other crossovers: the VW Tiguan and the Audi Q5 for the honor.

The Toyota Prius Prime was named the Green Car of the Year, beating out the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model X. In the design category, the Jaguar F Pace took top honors again, beating out the Mercedes S-Class Cabrio and the Toyota C-HR.

If performance is what you’re into, the Porsche Boxster and Cayman has been named the Performance Car of the Year, topping the McLaren 570S and Audi R8 Spyder. In the luxury category, the Mercedes Benz E Class captured top honors, besting the BMW 5 Series and Volvo S90/V90.

In 2016, the Mazda MX-5 walked away with the title of World Car of the Year, while the BMW 7 Series won the luxury category, the Audi R8 took the performance award, the Toyota Mirai won for the green car award and the Mazda MX-5 won for design.

Automotive journalists from all over the world are part of the committee to vote on and choose the World Car of the Year.
