Mercedes-Benz Has Set a New Sales Record

Mercedes-Benz has sold more cars in the first six months of 2017 than it has in any half-year period prior. 

The German automaker delivered 209,309 cars in June, up 11.1 percent, bringing its total for the first six months of 2017 to 1,144,274. That’s a 13.7-percent increase compared to last year, setting a new sales record for the brand for a half year.

The second quarter was also the best-ever quarter with 583,649 units delivered worldwide, up 11.6 percent. The company says Mercedes-Benz was the strongest premium brand during the month of June in Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Portugal, Austria, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, U.S., Canada, and Brazil.

In the North American region, Mercedes sold 193,399 vehicles in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, marking a 2.1-percent increase year over year.

“We have posted the strongest half-year in the history of Mercedes-Benz with sales of significantly more than a million cars,” stated Britta Seeger, member of the board of management of Daimler AG responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales. “Not only the popularity of our E-Class family contributed to this success; demand for our SUVs is also as high as ever in all regions.”
