These Are the Best Days and Times for Traffic During the Holidays

Traffic can be bad in certain areas not only during Christmas, but through to the New Year as well.

If your schedule is flexible, you can leave at the perfect time to avoid the traffic and get to your destination in good time. Traffic app Waze recently analyzed its data from 2016 to determine the best times to travel during the holidays in regards to traffic, and we were a bit surprised at the findings.

The day with the lightest traffic between December 22nd and January 4th is December 25th, and that certainly sounds accurate to us. Anyone who has had to drive or travel on Christmas Day knows it can be eerily desolate and lonely out on the roads. What was surprising to us, however, was that January 1st is expected to be as quiet in terms of traffic as any other Sunday. We suppose everyone will still be recovering from the night prior.

Waze also says traffic will be the worst after 2 p.m. and before 9 p.m. pretty much every day between December 22nd and January 2nd, so it’s best to get your traveling done at night or in the morning if possible.
