Watch an Aston Martin DB11 S Prototype Devour the Nurburgring

Aston Martin is working on a performance-focused version of its DB11 and a prototype for the car has been filmed pushing hard at the Nurburgring.

The prototype in question isn’t trying too hard to hide the fact that it’s a more hardcore take on the DB11. It’s sporting a reworked front fascia with larger cooling vents, along with a tiny, vertically mounted rear spoiler. We’re expecting the production version to feature a similar front end to the one seen here, but the rear wing is very likely an early pre-production component.

This prototype is powered by a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine – evidenced by its distinct (and loud) exhaust note. The engine makes 600 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque in the standard DB11 but it should be more powerful in this performance model, which is being referred to as the DB11 S for now. It may also feature a lower kerb wight, stiffer suspension and more powerful brakes, among other enhancements.

Watch and listed as the DB11 S prototype rips around the Nurburgring in the video embedded above. We’re expecting to see the production version rear its head sometime next year – perhaps at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March.
