2013 Buick Regal Base Price Climbs to $29,015

Set to arrive at dealers this fall, the 2013 Buick Regal will get a price hike thanks to GM dropping the Ecotec engine to offer the eAssist hybrid as the base model.

Regal buyers will face an extra $1,960 for the base Regal in 2013, but it will get dramatically better fuel mileage because of the hybrid drivetrain. With 25 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, the car gets a huge improvement over its previous 19/31 rating. Other improvements that help the hybrid achieve those numbers include engine start-stop and regenerative braking.

Despite the change up, the hybrid makes about as much power as the outgoing engine, with 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. Customers will also be able to opt for the 2.0-liter, 220-hp, turbocharged Ecotec engine or the 270-hp Regal GS.
