2015 Acura TLX Mechanical Details Leaked

Unofficial details about the 2015 Acura TLX – the replacement to both the TSX and TL – have leaked ahead of the car’s planned debut this week in New York.

A user on own  who claims to have attended a product training session in Texas released what he says are mechanical details about the new car. Acura hasn’t confirmed their authenticity, but they certainly look spot-on.

If they’re correct, the new car will feature two powertrains in production form: a 3.5-liter V6 mated to a nine-speed automatic and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder paired to an eight-speed automatic. The V6 supposedly makes 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque while the four-cylinder offers 206. In the nine-speed’s case, shifts are supposed to be 25 percent quicker than with the auttmatic TL while paddle-prompted shifts are supposed to be five times faster at responding.

But faster shifts aren’t the only enhancement. Assuming the post is accurate, the V6 TLX offer improved fuel economy. The post suggests ratings will rise to 21 mpg city and 34 mpg highway for the front-wheel drive model or 21 city and 31 highway for super-handling all-wheel drive variants. The TLX SH-AWD system is also supposed to be 25 percent lighter than the TL version.  According to the user, Acura is also packaging an engine start-stop system as standard equipment.

The car is also supposed to come with an electronic parking brake, standard Siri Eyes Free integration and an optional “sport plus” mode that alters throttle reponse and steering feel. While the TLX is also supposed to be shorter than the TL, it has roughly the same wheelbase.
