Acura is updating the MDX for the 2016 model year.
The MDX now uses a nine-speed automatic hooked up to its 3.5-liter V6 engine, power from which stays the same at 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. All that power can now be paired to Acura’s next-generation Super handling all-wheel drive setup. A new twin-clutch rear differential that weighs 19-pounds less is now used in the SH-AWD system, which helps vehicle handling using torque vectoring.
Fuel economy for the base front-wheel drive model sits at 19 mpg city, 27 on the highway and 22 mpg combined. Tack on Acura’s stop/start system and those jump to 20 city, 27 highway and 23 combined. Models equipped with SH-AWD are now rated at 18 mpg city, 26 on the highway and 21 mpg combined, while adding stop/start brings it up to 19/26/22.

Pricing for the 2016 MDX starts at $43,785 and reaches up to $58,000 for a fully loaded model.
Technology updates are plentiful for the new MDX. The crossover is now available with AcuraWatch, a suite of safety features including road departure mitigation and rear cross-traffic alert, on every trim level. The MDX also gets a frameless rear-view mirror, Siri eyes free voice recognition, a tire pressure monitoring alert system and a new automatic driver’s seat which moves back 35mm when the door is opened.
