The Chevrolet Caprice Police Pursuit vehicle is being recalled to address a possible steering defect.
A total of 6,280 police cars from the 2014-2016 model years are affected by the recall, which comes following an investigation that GM launched in September. According to the American automaker, electric power steering assist can be lost due to potential corrosion on a torque sensor connector. As a result, this can lead to the driver having to put more effort to manually steer, increasing the risk of an accident.

GM launched a formal investigation after the La Grange, Illinois police department reported a loss of power steering to the automaker. The corrosion can be the result of the police vehicles’ heavy usage.
No accidents or injuries related to the issue have been reported and dealerships will replace the steering gear assembly at no charge.
