General Motors has just announced its vision of the future: zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion.
“General Motors believes in an all-electric future,” said Mark Reuss, General Motors executive vice president of Product Development, Purchasing, and Supply Chain. “Although that future won’t happen overnight, GM is committed to driving increased usage and acceptance of electric vehicles through no-compromise solutions that meet our customers’ needs.”
Over the next 18 months, GM plans to introduce two new all-electric vehicles based on experiences gathered by the Chevrolet Bolt and Volt programs. The new BEVs will be a part of GM’s plan to introduce 20 new all-electric vehicles by 2023. It’s believed one of the two new electric vehicles will be crossovers which could fly under the Buick or Cadillac banners.

But it’s not just electricity that GM is focusing on, with the company announcing it’s also focusing on hydrogen fuel cell technology as part of its partnership with Honda.
GM took the opportunity to show off SURUS — the Silent Utility Rover Universal Superstructure — a fuel cell powered, four-wheel steer concept vehicle driven by two electric motors. GM envisions SURUS could be used as an emissions-free delivery vehicle, transport truck, or emergency vehicle.
