Honda Civic Type R Gets $200 Price Bump for 2018 Model Year

Honda Civic Type R Gets $200 Price Bump for 2018 Model Year

The Honda Civic Type R will soldier on for the 2018 model year with a single available trim and a similar price tag.

Earlier this year, rumors surfaced indicating Honda may introduce a bare-bones version of the Civic Type R for the epically popular sport compact’s second model year. Disappointingly, we now know this won’t be the case. Just as it was in 2017, the Civic Type R will be offered in one, single fully-loaded spec. The specs have stayed the same, with the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine making the same 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque as before. The slick-shifting six-speed manual remains the sole available transmission.

Honda’s suggested MSRP for the Civic Type R for 2018 is $34,990 including $890 in destination – which represents a minuscule increase of $200. This is similar to the $100 price increase the standard Civic received for 2018, and is in line with Honda’s typical practice of slight price increases for vehicles that remain unchanged as they enter a new model year. Good luck finding one at retail, though – Honda dealers have been pricing enthusiasts out of these cars left and right.
