Opel Cascada Reportedly Greenlit for America

Recently unveiled for Europe, the Opel Cascada is headed to America suggest sources inside the company, likely badged as a Buick.

The midsize Cascada is a four-seater convertible equipped with a fabric soft top that can be opened in 17 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph. Compared to the Buick Verano, the Cascada is an inch longer and wider.

In Europe, the Opel Cascada will be offered with a variety of engine choices. A turbocharged 1.4-liter can be had with a six-speed manual transmission with 120 hp or 140 hp while a turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel will have 165 hp and can be had with either a manual or automatic transmission. The highlight in the powertrain offerings for the Cascada is a 1.6-liter turbocharged Ecotec engine with 170 hp.

Even though General Motors hasn’t officially confirmed that the Cascada will be coming to America in the form of a Buick, Opel sources have suggested that it has already been met with approval with company CEO Dan Akerson eager to see the new product on our shores.
