2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid Earns 46 MPG Combined

The new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu hybrid will boast a higher MPG count than many of its mid-sized sedan competitors, earning a combined 46 MPG by the EPA.

While these figures are a bit lower than Chevy’s estimates when the car was introduced earlier this year, they still are much higher than the 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Ford Fusion Hybrid.

“The Malibu Hybrid offers outstanding fuel efficiency and integrates the latest technology to give customers a world-class hybrid,” said Steve Majoros.”Combined with a number of available, leading safety and connectivity features, it’s a great choice for those who want exceptional efficiency with Chevrolet’s signature value.”

The Malibu’s impressive fuel economy is thanks to its Volt-derived powertrain. However, unlike the plug-in Volt, the Malibu is not an electric vehicle, and utilizes a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine instead of a 1.5-liter unit. Combined power for the Malibu is pegged at 182 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque, which is good enough to get the Malibu driving on electric power alone at speeds over 50 MPH.

The Malibu Hybrid will hit dealerships this Spring with a price tag of $28,645 including destination. Be sure to check out our 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid Review for more information.
