The 2017 BMW M5 has shed a little bit of its camouflage for spy photographers.
Caught on camera lurking near the Nurburgring, the 2017 BMW M5 has gotten rid of some of its camouflage up front, giving us the best look yet at the next-generation sports sedan. Not much is currently known about the new BMW M5, but rumor has it that it will sport around 600 horsepower while using a tuned version of the current powerplant. It is, however, expected to be available with xDrive all-wheel drive for the first time.

The current BMW M5 features a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 552 hp, so squeezing that figure to the 600-hp range won’t be too difficult for the German automaker. It will also benefit from a new, lighter platform that will help shed around 220 pounds to further benefit its power-to-weight ratio.
Expected to go on sale late next year or early 2018, the big question remains whether the 2017 BMW M5 will have a manual transmission or if it will be available exclusively with a dual-clutch transmission.
