Development of the 2018 BMW M5 is moving right along.
Spy photographers have caught the new M5 testing yet again, this time in southern Spain. One of the prototypes sported a different type of camouflage up front, and although it conceals more of the front end, it gives us a better look at how the air intakes will be designed. It appears based on these two prototypes that the air intake openings will be larger than in the current BMW M5.
Rumor has it that the new BMW M5 will come with all-wheel drive now that BMW has brought Frank van Heel to the M division. Van Heel is known for his involvement in developing Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive technology.

Under the hood, expect the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine currently used, but the German automaker likely has some tricks up its sleeves to increase performance to around 600 horsepower. The biggest change will be the M5’s weight, which is expected to drop around 200 pounds compared to the current model.
