Audi is testing out a massive six-door limousine based on the A8, but we’re not sure why.
The prototype seen in the photos is wearing official Audi test plates, but that doesn’t explain its existence. With a new Audi A8 due out in 2017, this could be a prototype for a next-generation long-wheelbase A8 model.

It could also be a one-off project for a high-paying customer, or even a dignitary such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
With Mercedes offering the uber-luxury Maybach S600, Audi might be looking to play in the same space with a limousine version of the A8. Now only time will tell.
