BMW Z5 Spotted Testing Once Again

BMW Z5 Spotted Testing Once Again

BMW is gearing up to launch a successor to the Z4, likely called the Z5, and the car has been spotted during testing once again.

The new sports car is the result of a collaboration between BMW and Toyota which will result in the Z5 for the German brand and a new Supra for Toyota.

BMW will launch the Z5 as a roadster with a canvas roof, ditching the current model’s retractable hard top to save weight. A coupe version of the Z5 could arrive later on, while the Supra will launch with as a coupe. There is no word on whether Toyota plans to offer the car as a roadster.

Providing power for the Z5 will be a range of four- and six-cylinder engines, all of them probably turbocharged. A hybrid setup is also rumored to be in the cards for the new sports car along with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system.

The Z5 is expected to be revealed sometime in 2017 as a 2018 model.
