BMW has spent 2016 celebrating its 100th anniversary by revealing four new concept vehicles from each of its brands.
We had the chance to check out all four of the concepts at an event in Los Angeles, where the final concept, the BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100, was revealed. Check out all the photos above and get the details below.

BMW Vision Next 100
The first concept car that was revealed was the BMW Vision Next 100, a copper colored car that uses a very unique and innovative material that can morph and shift shapes. Using a next generation, zero emissions powertrain, this concept promises to still provide the ultimate driving experience that BMWs are known for, but also offers a self-driving function if the commute is too boring.
There’s some really neat sci-fi effects on display here. Not only are the front wheels connected to the car, but the triangle-construction extends and collapses as the wheels turn. The car also features an unbelievably sleek aerodynamic co-efficient of drag at just 0.18. This concept car debuted back in March in Munich.
MINI Vision Next 100 Concept
The typically playful MINI Cooper gets a streamlined look in the next 100 years, looking like something out of the Jetsons. The main story with the MINI Vision Next 100 is personalization. The roof, hood, body and even the interior all change colors based on the driver and a number of variables including their mood and temperature.
Of course this is a car from 2116, so it features some self driving capability. Despite all this personalization, the interior is clear of clutter, which is a nice reminder that driving still matters to the BMW Group.
Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100
Contrasting the Mini concept is the new Rolls Royce Vision Next 100 Concept, which exemplifies the super-luxurious automobile of the future. A self driving vehicle of pure opulence, this concept features a hand built chassis that uses the most advanced materials available (since this is a concept, those materials haven’t been invented yet.)
One thing is clear though, the interior is a personal retreat for the owner of the vehicle. There’s a ton of space, and a lot of glass for the passengers to scope out their surroundings. A digital assistant acts like a concierge and chauffeur. When you get out, a red carpet is projected on the ground in front of the door, signalling your arrival in fashion.
BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100
Rounding out the four concepts is BMW’s view of how the future of motorcycles will change. The bike is streamlined and also features a zero-emissions drive train. It can self balance which BMW says will allow it to avoid crashes. The Motorrad Vision Next 100 Concept also comes with a futuristic visor, that projects relevant information to the driver like a head-up display would.
