High-Performance BMW 7 Series Models to Make Public Debut in Late March

Two new high-performance BMW 7 Series models will be showcased at the 2016 New York Auto Show.

To kick off the 100-year anniversary of the BMW Group, the German automaker will bring the new BMW M760i xDrive and BMW Alpina B7 xDrive to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in late March. Both models will be making their North American debuts at the show, although they have already been unveiled online.

The 2017 BMW M760i xDrive features the first 12-cylinder gasoline engine with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology, packing 600 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque giving it a zero-to-60-mph time of just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph.

The other offering is the BMW Alpina B7 xDrive, which will feature Integral Active Steering for the first time. The system combines a variable ratio electric steering system at the front axle with active steering on the rear axle to increase agility and dynamic handling. Under its hood is a 4.4-liter V8 with the same 600 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque as the BMW M760i xDrive. It is, however, faster, going zero-to-60-mph in 3.6 seconds, or 0.8 seconds faster than its predecessor.

Joining the high-performance 7 Series models at the 2016 New York Auto Show will be the M2, X4 M40i, X1, 7 Series, 330e and i8 models, among others.
