Mercedes-Benz reclaimed its sales crown in the U.S. in 2016, outselling both Lexus and BMW.
Despite the fact that Mercedes saw a 0.8 percent year-over-year sales decline, its overall sales of 340,237 units was enough to top its greatest rivals. The last time Mercedes sold the most luxury cars in the U.S. was 2013.
Mercedes’ closest rival, Lexus, saw sales slip by 3.9 percent compared to 2015, moving a total of 340,237 vehicles in 2016. BMW saw the largest decline with sales dropping by 9.5 percent for a total of 313,174 units, putting the brand in third place. This is a big loss for BMW, which held the luxury sales crown in both 2014 and 2015.

Audi managed a sales boost of 4 percent last year, finishing in fourth place with 210,213 vehicles sold. Cadillac, Acura, Infiniti and Lincoln make up the next four spots in the luxury sales race.
Jaguar saw the biggest gains in the luxury segment, jumping by 116 percent to move 31,243 vehicles, lead by the brand’s new F-Pace crossover.
