Poll: Volkswagen Golf R or Audi TT?

Today we pit two Volkswagen Group products against one another in our latest poll! Which one will come out on top? Vote and let us know!

The VW Golf R and Audi TT are similar vehicles, but they have key differences. For starters, the Golf is offered as a hatchback, the TT comes as a coupe or convertible. But there are more variances than that.

The 2016 Golf R is the most powerful version of this car ever sold in America. Its EA888 turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine puts out 292 horses and 280 lb-ft of torque.

Two gearboxes are offered, either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic with the same number of ratios. The former allows this car to reach 60 miles an hour in just 5.3 seconds, the latter provides even quicker acceleration, doing the same deed in a scalding 4.5 seconds. Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is standard for maximum traction in all weather conditions.

Moving on, the Audi is propelled by a less potent 2.0-liter turbo, one that puts out 220 horses and 258 lb-ft of twist. Unlike its blue-collar sibling, a six-speed S tronic automatic transmission is the only gearbox available. With this drivetrain underhood, the TT will accelerate from zero to 60 in 5.6 seconds.

In typical Audi fashion, quattro all-wheel drive is standard. This new system measures road conditions at a dizzying rate, taking 150 readings every 10 milliseconds.

One feature that sets this Audi apart from the VW Golf R is its fully digital instrument cluster. This vivid 12.3-inch display is nothing short of gorgeous. It’s fully customizable and replaces a traditional navigation screen on the center stack.

So, that’s a look at two of the Volkswagen group’s sporty vehicles. Which one do YOU prefer? If you still can’t make up your mind, compare each one right here, oh, and PLEASE vote in our poll!
